Introducing: Fortaleza Yellow Bourbon

Our cooperation

La Boheme Cafe has been working with Marcos Croce since 2014. Charles, who buys their coffee for us, was immediately impressed by the mission of this family farm: they want to become an example of a sustainable economy, socially, economically and ecologically.

Farm

Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF) was founded in 1850 by the Barretto family. The name translates to "environmental, indomitable farm". It is spread over more than 2000 hectares of land, which is taken care of by FAF staff with utmost care. They run the coffee farm here with a simple philosophy: it's a community with responsibility towards nature. Of course, this has not gone unnoticed and the farm has already inspired other coffee producers in the Sao Paulo area to create a community of farmers committed to restoring the health of the soil and processing coffee naturally and carefully.

Farmer

Here, the passion for coffee is passed down from generation to generation and it is customary for the whole family to be involved in the farm. It is therefore not surprising that FAF is led by Silvia Barreto together with her husband Marcos Croce. Silvia inherited the farm in 2001 and describes herself as the mother of the community. Her husband Marcos takes care of business and marketing, and her son Felipe checks the quality and taste of the coffee.

Coffee

This coffee grows in the heart of Brazil's Mogiana Mountains at an altitude between 900 and 1,300 m above sea level and consists purely of the Yellow Bourbon cultivar, grown in the shade of tropical trees. In the cup, you will find a tender, full body with strong flavors of peanut butter, dark chocolate and a soft caramel aftertaste, complemented by slightly fruity notes.

You can taste coffee from the Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza farm here .
